Holidays on the hills of Florence
Where we are and How to reach usFrom Villa Sestini you are in 10 minutes by car, from the "Palio" Highway (connecting Florence to Siena), the "A1" Highway (from Florence to Rome or Bologna) and the wonderful Via Chiantigiana (if you want to head toward the Chianti region).
Within a circumference of approx. 60 Km are located the most beautiful Tuscan cities (like Siena, Lucca, Arezzo, Pisa, Pistoia...) but also many villages, real jewels of Art and Architecture... Some of them famous like San Gimignano, Pienza, Cortona, Montepulciano, Certaldo, Poppi, Montelupo, Barberino Val d'Elsa, Collodi, Monteriggioni ...) and others, almost unknown, like Buggiano Alta, Gargonza, S. Donato in Poggio ...)
From the A1 Highway
To reach Villa Sestini coming from North (Bologna) or South (Rome) you must leave the A1 Highway at the tollgate of "Firenze Sud", then you must drive along the linking stretch of highway for 1000 meters (2400 feet), you then must turn toward Bagno a Ripoli and Viale Europa heading for the hills, direction "Pontassieve".
After 6 traffic-lights - keeping yourself on the left side of the road for Rosano-Pontassieve - and after 50 meters (150 feet) from the traffic circle, at the light, turn right towards Rimaggio. Go ahead for 200 meters (600 feet), pass the pharmacy (on the left) and the Trattoria Donnini (on the right). Continue towards the street "Via di Vicchio e Paterno" heading into the hill. After 700 meters (2100 feet), after - on the right - the "Scuola di Equitazione Fiorentina" (florentine riding-school) you'll see a house on the right and a little street "Via della Croce" (and the sign "Tabernacolo di Rimaggino", the "Rimaggino Tabernacle")
Choose the road on the right (avoiding the little street on the left), you'll arrive at a square in front of a Villa, turn toward the slope (the road passes between a side wall of the villa and a wall with a little tabernacle. Here you are in Via di Vernalese! Go on for 200 meters (600 feet) and Villa Sestini (recognizable for the crenellated tower) will welcome you with all its beauty...
From the city center
From the city center or from the city boulevards, head for Piazza
Ferrucci, then Viale Giannotti and Viale Europa, direction
Pontassieve. Pass the gas station "Q8" and after 3 traffic-lights...follow
the indications we wrote before...
An alternative road: when you arrive at Rimaggio, after the Pharmacy and the Trattoria Donnini, instead of heading for Vicchio e Paterno, turn on the right in the direction of "Via di Quarto", arrived at the fork, take the road on the left, pass the little square, continue along the road and at the following fork take the road on the left, go on for a short distance and you'll soon see Villa Sestini on the hill. Follow the slope and you'll arrive at your destination!
